Team Hatchet / CHC 2021
Dear friends and family — It’s that time of year again ….
I’m writing to see if you would consider supporting the Camel's Hump Challenge with a donation. As you know, I am passionate about this event — I’ve been on the Board for a few years now, and love this unique backcountry event.
This year, of course, looks a little different than past years. If State guidelines allow it, the CHC committee is planning to hold a modified in-person Challenge in late February, with a limit on participants and no post-event gathering. However, to broaden the reach of the event and let others join in spirit, we've added the virtual Challenge, where participants can create their own challenge, ski on a day they choose, and raise money toward the cause.
I’ll be skiing again this year with Team Hatchet. We've chosen the virtual option to allow more space for the day-of participants who want the support of a sweep team and camaraderie of a larger (socially distanced!) group. We will still tackle the Challenge Trail and ski 14 miles around Camel's Hump - hopefully a few days before the actual event.
Of course there’s another reason this year is different. I’ve had two relatives diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease this year, so the event is more meaningful than ever, and my desire to reach a higher fundraising goal has been fueled.
Please consider a donation to support the Camel's Hump Challenge and the Alzheimer’s Association. Any amount -- large or small -- is greatly appreciated! All funds stay local, and benefit the Alzheimer's Association Vermont chapter.
You can donate here, if you choose: https://act.alz.org/site/TR/ActiveEvents/General?px=13235254&pg=personal&fr_id=14978
With gratitude,
Catherine
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.
