Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom!!
Today, April 9, 4 years ago is when my mother lost her battle with Alzheimer’s. My mom was a great wife, mother, grandmother, boss, church and choir member. She was beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, business savvy and fair. Mom was diagnosed in 2010 with AD and had the best caregiver anyone could ask for....her husband of more than 60 years. Alzheimer’s also took a toil on my dad physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. It was hard watching both of them the last 6 months of mom’s life knowing there was nothing that could be done to stop or slow the downhill spiral as Alzheimer’s won.
Sad to say, but there came a point when I was ready for it all to end so mom could be at peace.
This will be my 4th and final year of being an active rider and trying to reach and surpass my fundraising goal. The Alzheimer’s ‘A Ride to Remember’ presents an opportunity to raise awareness and financial contributions so ongoing research to prevent and cure this disease can continue as well as provide support resources to families. It is also a way many of us riders honor and memorialize loved ones.
Please consider supporting my final A Ride to Remember. This is a battle the human race needs to win.
