Help me fight Alzheimer's while running NYC Marathon!
In 2023, I had a goal of running a marathon every month for a year—Mission Accomplished!!! I had been planning this since 2017 but was delayed because of COVID-19. Now that I've crossed that off the list, I had to set a new goal.
Why not try to knock out the six world marathons—Tokoyo, Chicago, Boston, NYC, Berlin, and London? It will be a couple of years before I can hit them all, but this year, I'm planning to do Chicago and NYC. I've really enjoyed having the races on the calendar, as it gives me something to shoot for and a reason to try to stay in shape.
Why run for Alzheimer's?
My grandmother, Evelyn Anderson, suffered from Alzheimer's for about 10 years in her 80s and 90s. It was SO sad to see her deteriorate mentally while her body kept together and going into her late 90s. My grandparents were a product of the Great Depression, savers, and frugal. Most of their life savings went to health care instead of doing fun things like cruises and enjoying their time traveling. Knowing that Alzheimer's is hereditary, it also can't hurt to help support research for a cure because who knows if it will hit the Andersons again.
I need to raise at least $4500 to participate in the NYC Marathon... but blowing past that donation milestone would be amazing!
Please support the Alzheimer's Association and me on this journey!!
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
