As many of you know, my mom Jean, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012. It has been a difficult, painful, joyful and grace-filled journey over these nearly 8 years. We have watched our intelligent, capable, strong, engaging mother slowly slip away and although we still see so much of her (especially her quick wit and sense of humor), this disease has certainly robbed her and all of us of the "golden years". It is heartbreaking to watch her struggle with some of life’s most basic tasks or to try and communicate her thoughts and feelings. In spite of this we are so blessed that she still knows us all and we are grateful for every minute we have with her. This June, my husband Doug and I are being joined by 6 of our family members to form Jean's Gems, a family team committed to a bike ride that will be from 30-100 miles (depending on our abilities) to raise funds to help eradicate this horrible disease. I have a goal of raising $1000 for this event. I would be most grateful for any amount you might give to help get me to this goal.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer's research- only dollars. By participating in the 2020 Ride to End Alz, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
And you can help me. These dollars are desperately needed- for the more than 5.8 million Americans living with Alzheimer's, their 16 million caregivers, and millions more who have lost a loved one to this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and their ground breaking momentum in the field of Alzheimer's research. 90% of the funds raised go toward the Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's and other dementias.
Help me cycle towards a world with our first survivor and donate today!
