Riding for Mamma
For over 10 years, I have watched Alzheimer's disease slowly debilitate my amazing mother. Mamma was energetic, fun, talkative, and most of all loving to those around her. Today, she can no longer speak and she can no longer walk. Her beautiful spirit still shines through when she laughs or smiles. I call these gifts - glimpses of the woman I miss, even though she is still here.
In honor of my Mamma, I am participating in the 2020 Ride to End Alz. I will ride to raise awareness and to raise funds to advance the research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. My hope is that someday soon we can prevent and cure Alzheimer's - today, more than 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and millions more have lost a loved one to this disease.
Please consider supporting my effort by making a donation. Any amount is appreciated and will make a difference All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and their ground breaking momentum in the field of Alzheimer's research. 90% of the funds raised go toward the Association's efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer's and other dementias.
The ride will be a unique experience this year - the formal ride is not happening due to Covid, so each rider is will complete their goal by the end of June. Roy, Gordon, and I will bike 30 miles with Mamma as our inspiration.
