Friends and family,
I am reaching out to you for your support raising funds for ALZ Stars - the marathon team for the Alzheimer's Association, in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Top 3 reasons why you should donate:
1) You will be supporting a great cause
2) It’s tax-deductible
3) You will have the personal satisfaction of knowing that I’ll have to go through the agony of training for and running the marathon.
Alzheimer’s has had a direct impact on me and my wife Christina as both my grandpa as well as her grandma suffered from the disease for many years. In my grandfather’s case, looking back I remember him showing signs of the disease when I was a little boy and he was only in his late 60’s. Nonetheless, I always remembered him for his great sense of humor despite the challenges.
He was fortunate in that he had fantastic care from my grandmother, who despite her limited resources, heart issues, and a tiny 4th story walk up 1950’s-era apartment took care of him until he passed. Unfortunately not everyone is as “lucky” and full-time care for loved ones can get quite expensive.
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
