Jennifer Is Running The Chicago Marathon!
Where to start? After losing over 100 pounds 15 years ago, and still able to keep the weight off, the Chicago Marathon will be my 3rd marathon in 3 years. I never thought I would ever be able to lose the weight, let alone keep it off. But running and fitness has changed my life! In addition to the physical results, I was able to get off the 4 medications I was taking for my panic attacks and depression. And I haven't looked back since.
With my mom's family being from Chicago, and my late grandmother being a die-hard Cubs fan, I found the Chicago marathon to be a fitting way to celebrate my family.
I chose the Alzheimer's Association as my family, like many others, have been affected by this disease. My paternal grandfather sadly lost his battle with Alzheimer's in 2015, to be reunited with his beautiful bride who we lost several years earlier. Since the passing of Grandpa Joe, the family has been very passionate in the movement to find a cure for Alzheimer's. So much so that my dad is participating in a 2 year study for a new Alzheimer's drug.
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
