Zoe Running for 'A World without Alzheimer's and all other Dementia' - Chicago Marathon 2022
Charity
By participating in the Chicago Marathon 2022, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association® whose vision is A WORLD WITHOUT ALZHEIMER'S AND ALL OTHER DEMENTIA.
"Dementia care - it's not rocket science, it's heart science." - Gail Wetherill, RN
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
"Even if I can't cure, I can still care." - Sally P. Karioth RN, PhD
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!

My Story
My grandmother, Barbara Walton was a wonderful woman. Mother of four, grandmother of five, devoted wife. Running a hotel in the 1960s/70s came with a multitude of stresses and sadly she developed Multi-Infarct Dementia. I never quite understood it at such an early age until I was living in New York in my late twenties. Navigating the daily hustle and bustle emerged a passion for long distance running and spreading awareness of mental health related issues.
Running was my daily therapy and made sense that my mental health just like my physical health needed to be taken care of as well as maintained. Completing my first marathon in New York 2007 seemed a natural evolution and didn't just mark a check on my bucket list but ignited a passion to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Six Races. Six Stars. One Dream.
Now 11 years on, at the age of nearly 43 I have the courage to continue working toward that dream. Since completing the London Marathon 2011, I am happily married, a mother to two wonderful children and proud to have established a woman owned business. Fear had stalled my momentum but now I've found the courage to follow my heart, stand up for my dream and ready to conquer another marathon. I will be 50% complete after Chicago with 3 Marathon's to go. Giving back whilst completing this goal gives it purpose and meaning to me.
I am proud to support the Alzheimer's Association and in creating this page, I hope you can give your support to this important cause.
"The capacity to care is the thing which gives life its deepest significance." - Pablo Casals
