Alzheimer's is near and dear to my heart. My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at a young age, as she was only in her early 70's. With her diagnosis, I did not know what to expect and it was difficult to accept what was happening to her. The disease attacked her quality of life rapidly and within just a couple of years she was forgetting the basics: eating, speaking, recognizing her family and friends and before we knew it the disease had quickly taken over her entire body. Losing your mom once is difficult enough however I felt like I lost my mom twice, once when the disease made me unrecognizable to her and a second when she went to be with God. She was an incredibly smart woman, who supported her husband and raised 5 children. She kept her brain busy everyday, doing crossword puzzles, reading books, socializing with friends however none of that made her resistant to the disease. I am running to honor her and help with the fight to cure Alzheimer's.
Please consider making donation in honor of my mom, Kathy Caldwell. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
