I am running for past and present loved ones.
Like so many, I have been impacted personally by Alzheimers, losing my Grandfather and Nana to the disease. In my young eyes, my Grandpa was a musical gentle giant, gone too soon. As a 20 something, the diagnosis of Nana hit me especially hard - I was old enough to fully understand the multi-year struggle and recognize the pain my father went through in seeing his mother fade before his eyes.
That is why I am choosing to go the extra mile and run my first marathon in support of the Alzheimer's Association. Every stride in my marathon is a memory they have lost in their struggle against this disease; every stride I make is a memory I can recall, and every contribution is a promise of hope for a cure.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. On behalf of Grandpa Frank, Nana, and so many others, thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
