I am running for my grandparents, Dick and Dorothy Kerner (pictured at my PhD dissertation defense in June, 2018). My Grandfather lost his life to Alzheimer's Disease in 2019, and my Grandmother bore a tremendous responsibility of being her husband's primary caretaker for many years. She left us in 2020. They were my number one fans at all of my sporting events in the past, and this one will not be any different with their memory helping me to cross the finish line! 

By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.

Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
