For Grandma Betsy
My grandma Betsy was diagnosed with Dementia, a form of Alzheimer’s, in 2016. She currently lives in an assisted living memory care complex in Trenton, IL. I love visiting her and taking her out for ice cream. She never fails to have a huge smile, despite the struggles she is facing. Grandma Betsy is such an inspiration, and I look up to her and the amazing woman that she is. I hope to live my life with the same joyous outlook that she has.
In October of 2020, I will be running the Chicago Marathon on the Alz Stars team, as diseases like Alzheimer's and Dementia have greatly affected my family. This charity team raises money for Dementia and Alzheimer’s research. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. We need to work together to raise awareness and funds to combat this disease. By joining hands we can put an end to Alzheimer’s.
My goal is to raise at least $1,500 to support Alzheimer’s research. Please support my efforts through prayer or by making a donation either by mailing in the attached form or through the following link: http://act.alz.org/goto/madisonmesplay. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association, and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease! This cause has been dear to my heart, and I am very excited to run in honor of my grandma Betsy.
