Together (or more likely a few hours apart), we will be running the Chicago Marathon on October 11th, 2020. This will be Joe’s second marathon, Jackie’s first marathon, and we're excited (and nervous!) to take on this challenge of 26.2 miles together.
As many of you may know, our mom, Beth, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in February 2018. Like so many others, we’ve witnessed firsthand the effects of Alzheimer’s on our loved ones. We’ve also seen how a difficult diagnosis like this brings family and friends together. The passion and care we’ve witnessed over the past 2 years has been extraordinary, and we want to channel that passion to finding a cure. We believe that a cure exists, and we are excited to take this challenge head-on to do our part!
In an effort to give back and show our support, we've joined a team supporting the Alzheimer's Association and have committed to raising a minimum of $3,500 which will help us achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease.
Most of you are probably familiar with Alzheimer’s disease, its effect on those afflicted, and the people that love and care for them. Let us share some facts about this disease, and then you’ll see why we find it so important to find a cure!
• Currently, more that 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease.
• This number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.
• Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.
• 1 in 3 seniors die with Alzheimer’s Disease or another form of dementia.
• Alzheimer’s currently kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined
Please help support our efforts by making a donation. All the funds we raise together will directly benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research towards methods of treatment, prevention, and ultimately a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. For everyone that has been there to love and support our family, we can’t thank you enough. We will keep you posted on our progress!
With Much Love,
Joe and Jackie Pavilonis
