Let's go - Third time's the charm!
Welcome to my page -- thank you for stopping by!
I'm thrilled that I'll be running my second marathon (third attempt) as a part of the Alzheimer’s Association ALZ Stars®, a program to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Association.
Quick summary of my marathon journey...
- I survived my first marathon 5 days before my wedding in 2017 with a 4:13 time
- Broke my ankle in 2018 on my 20-miler run... no 2018 marathon for me, but I did get to foster a sweet pup named Johnny who was getting healthy after a lot of heart trouble. We recovered together by spending lots of days lounging on our comfy couch in Lakeview.
- Now, in 2019: I'm excited for a comeback stronger than ever -- on our 2-year wedding anniversary! I also quit my corporate job this year in pursuit of what I love: helping Aging Adults, so this is just another way I can further a cause in that space.
In my freshman year of high school, my family lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's and Dementia. Although it goes without saying that her passing was very difficult to face, I remember what a hard time the two years were leading up to this point. I watched my dad selflessly care for his mom as she fought to remember who he was, and I aim to play a role in preventing others from facing the same horrible experience.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research to discover methods of prevention, treatment and ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer’s. Every bit counts and is very appreciated. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you in advance for your generosity – together, we can outrace Alzheimer’s disease.
