I am running for my mother

By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
I am running for my mother who has Alzheimer's disease. Over the past 5 years, my family and I have witnessed firsthand the devastation that Alzheimer's causes for an individual and that person's family. We have witnessed my mother slowly disappear. As her memories slip away, so does her essence. My mother was always so full of life. She had strong convictions and beliefs. She had such a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She would routinely read as many as four or five books a week, but now she can barely read the words in a greeting card. We see glimpses of her old personality now and again, and she continues to find joy in the moment, but when the moment is over, it is gone.
I am running to help end Alzheimer's so other families do not have to go through what we are going through. I am running to help find a cure for Alzheimer's disease so precious memories can be saved. And I’m running so we can learn how to prevent this horrible disease from ever starting.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
