My 26.2 miles towards beating Alzheimer's
Through the Alzheimer's Association and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
My personal story is one that deeply affected me during the time and continues to stay with me each day that goes by. I lost my dad in 2019 after he battled this disease for 10 years, diagnosed at the young age of 52. Alzheimer's disease robbed so much time and so many memories we should have made together. There are relationships with grandkids that will never be.
I am running this race for you, daddio, the "Papa Moose" to my kids who will always know you (and because of you- they will also know the heartbreak that is the Chicago Bears!) We eat ice cream in your honor, we stay strong in your honor. I will carry on the sideline cheers, just as you taught me, at all of my kiddos sporting events...in the most lovingly LOUD way you always did for us. You are missed so very much and I don't wish the pain and suffering you experienced on anyone, or any other family.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
