My Personal Fundraising Page
You guys... I'm doing it again. For the Chicago Marathon 2024 I'm raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. It's no secret that my father is fighting this horrible disease and one day I hope there will be a cure so no more have to suffer.
I've been my father's primary care taker for eight years now. This disease took my father from me. He's alive but, he really is gone. He'll never get to walk me down the aisle, do a father daughter dance at my wedding, know what it's like to be a grandpa, and miss out on so many more milestones in my life that he should be there for. My heart breaks more and more every time I think about all the moments we won't have together anymore... the moments when I really just need my dad.
This, this is what we know:
Imprisoned in one's own rapidly shrinking brain is how a doctor described it to me. I wouldn't wish Dementia or Alzheimer's on my worst enemy. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They are wracked with confusion and can become hostile towards those who are there to help and see to their needs. Even the most competent and bright become dependent and lost. Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move & unable to eat or drink.
^^^This is why I'm running for the Alzheimer's charity. If you can't donate please share.
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association®.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's disease!
