Chicago Marathon 2024
I will be running in the 2024 Chicago Marathon in honor of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Anthony “Tony” Palazzo. Tony was a lifelong resident in Inwood NYC and owner of Sam’s Tavern on Vermilyea Avenue. After the bar closed in the mid 80’s, he continued to work as a bartender, later a school custodian and remained active in the bar softball leagues into his 70’s. Tony was know by all as hardworking, kind, caring, silly and funny and was nicknamed Colonel Corn. He was always willing to support his customers and neighbors and was very generous to anyone who needed a helping hand. Tony adored his wife and childhood sweetheart Dorothy and always put his family first. He was a diehard Yankees fan until the end. Tony passed away at the age of 85 after suffering from this terrible disease. His memory lives on in all of us who loved and adored him, he is missed beyond words.
