Chicago Marathon Fundraising
I know I said I only want to do 1 marathon which was the Boston Marathon, but I will be doing the Chicago Marathon October 13, 2024!!! My "Why" is my mother. For those of you that did not know my mom she suffered from Alzheimer's disease for way to long. On July 22, 2023, my mom, Marguerite Manne passed from this terrible disease. After the initial shock, my family did what we always do and faced this disease head on! We came to together to give and support my parents in any way we needed to. My dad being my mother's number one cheerleader lead the way to make her as comfortable and safe as possible. Although it was a scary, exhausting and terrible road we were all on, I learned so much about the disease and was thankful for the many doctor's at Beth Israel Hospital that cared and gave my mother the dignity she deserved. Also, I learned with strength and a loving family you can persevere through the most horrific things that come your way.
I decided to register for a guarentee spot for the Chicago Marathon not thinking I would get a bib. But I truly believe my mother made this happen and on Dec. 7, 2023 I received an email saying I was in!!! This means I do not have to fundraise, but I want to do my part to help the millions of families that are going through what my family went through. This marathon will be dedicated to my mother. My team Fab4 will be raising money for Alzheimer's Disease.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to nearly 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
