is fundraising to honor:
her husband Warren
On June 19, I'm participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease and my husband, Warren Powers, who is living with Alzheimer's. We are hanging in there, but others are not as lucky. Everyday scientist are making great strides to find a cure and I know it is on the horizon. The fight must go on and you can be a part of it. My team will be playing bridge at the St. Louis Bridge Center to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. We will have a silent auction and a raffle too! Come join us, it is always a fun day and for a great cause!
Today, 5.7 MILLION Americans are living with Alzheimer's and by 2050 this number is projected to rise to nearly 14 MILLION. Today 16.1 MILLION Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's and other dementias at an estimated 18.4 BILLION hours and care valued at over $232 BILLION.
Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or other dementias. In 2018, Alzheimer's and other dementias will cost the nation $277 BILLION and by 2050, these cost could rise as high as $1.1 TRILLION.
I pray you are not one affected by this disease, but the odds are you will be in the future, either a loved one, friend or yourself may be diagnosed.. We must find a cure.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research and provide care and support to those facing the disease today. Feel free to past this on to family and friends.
