Sterling Pharmacy is a proud member of Astrup Companies. What started as a single community pharmacy in Austin, Minnesota in 1952, our family of companies has grown to include over a dozen community pharmacies, four long-term care pharmacies, a state-of-the-art specialty pharmacy, a nationwide wholesale pharmacy buying group, and a charitable foundation dedicated to giving back to the communities we collectively serve.

Eight years ago, the impact of Alzheimer’s struck our company at its core. Leonard Astrup, founder of Sterling Drug, which has evolved into Astrup Companies, passed away in 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

In Leonard’s memory, our community pharmacy locations have been dedicating the month of June to Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts since 2016. Thanks to the hard work of our employees, the overwhelming generosity of our patients and customers, and matching funds from the Astrup Family Foundation, Sterling pharmacies have donated $210,500 over the past six years!

This year, Astrup Companies is celebrating its 70th anniversary. To celebrate the anniversary and honor the legacy of Leonard and everyone who’s helped serve our communities throughout the last 70 years, we are kicking our fundraising efforts up a notch!

Along with each of the Astrup Companies businesses, we are joining the fundraising fun. The Sterling community pharmacies aim to raise $25,000 (a combination of in-store and online donations) as part of Astrup Companies’ overall goal of raising $35,000, which will be matched by the Astrup Family Foundation, and we hope you will join us in our effort to put an end to Alzheimer’s.
