is fundraising to honor:
her dad, Don Olson.
Dear Family and Friends,
My beloved dad, Don Olson, struggled with Alzheimer's disease before he passed away in 2009. I should say, and as many of you know who have cared for someone with this disease... the reality is that we all struggled with Alzheimer's. This diagnosis and the challenges it created, impacted not only my father, but all who knew and loved him- most especially my dear mother, Arlene, who was by his side 24 hours each day, seven days a week...until the end. The dementia affected not only his memory, but his behavior and ability to think. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease.
The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease! For the 5th year, I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Please plan to join us on June 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack, between 11 AM and 7 PM to purchase some delicious 'dogz', drinks and chips. If you're not hungry, feel free to just stop by to drop off a donation. I'm grateful to the "NH Hot Dogz" team, under the exemplary leadership of Bob Bergin and Ron Sloane; who since 2016, have coordinated an outstanding event that has been instrumental in fundraising for this most important cause.
Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise. Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and please consider making a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease.
No donation is too small. I thank you in advance.
