Our inspiration is always and forever Stray Dog Mark 'Mace' Macy and his wife Pam. Diagnosed in 2017 at age 64, ALZ has taken away some abilities but, as Marsh says, "Mace is still Mace" with his steel blue eyes, ready smile, love for his family and friends, and concern for others expressed to everyone he meets.

Since doing the Winter Badwater crossing, and the 6 Marathons in 6 Days on Route 66 as fundraisers to End ALZ, we have expanded our TLD Team to include each and every participant in our Route 66 UltraRun race: 140 Miles of History and A Race for Everyone on Historic Route 66 in AZ [Route66UltraRun.com]. We donate a percentage of their registration fee and invite and encourage participants and crew members to donate and/or set up their own fundraising page.

Just like last year, Mace and Pam were our honored guests at the event. They were at the pre-race meeting in Seligman, AZ on November 10, and visited runners and their crews along the Route to  to support and encourage them as well as the volunteers, local business owners, and everyone they encountered. With them out on the Route, and at the Awards Banquet, our participants had the gift of the smile, spirit, and strength not only of Mace, but of their love for each other.
