UPDATE- AUGUST 2023.
Steve is continuing to decline, and is in the advanced stage of ALZ. Many of his daily movements and routine are more difficult and he is using either a walker or a wheel chair. But he still knows old friends, Stanley and me. He still smiles at me every time I come - especially when I share a chocolate treat with him. And he loves to hold people's hands and sing with them. Each day is more difficult - but he's fighting every day. We all need to FIGHT and raise lots of $$ to get rid of or help slow the progress of this HORRIBLE DISEASE.
I will be volunteering at the Race this year - but I will not be walking. If anyone wants to walk that would be great, but not necessary WE are blessed with wonderful people who support us in so many ways. And we thank each and everyone of you for your help today and everyday
ORIGNINAL POST - AUGUST 2022
As many of you know, my husband Steve has been fighting Early Onset Alzheimer's since he was 54 in 2016. The disease had slowly progressed , but accelerated in the past year. In March 2022, I had to make the difficult decision to move Steve into a Memory Care facility. This disease has devastated a once vital, funny, whip-smart and kind 60 year old.
I have not previously asked for support, but I think it's time now to help the ALZ association and the multiple hospitals and research clinics that are working every day to find something that can slow this down- or even cure it.
So instead, please support My (and of course Steve and Stanley's) team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research..
