For the last 10+ years, my mom suffered a long and cruel battle with early onset Alzheimer’s. It is with a heavy heart that I share mom passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2023 surrounded by family. My younger sister and I were able to fly home to Florida in time to hold her as she took her final breaths.
I was lucky to have a mother who gave Haley and I the world, even in the limited time we had with her. It’s not fair what happened to her and I’ll never stop being angry that she was taken from us in such a devastating way. And how much she missed—getting to say goodbye to her own father, seeing her kids get married, have kids of their own, moves across the country, and so, so much more.
What gives me comfort and relief during this excruciating time is knowing that she is no longer in pain, and I pray she is busy in heaven catching up on everything and reuniting with her dad, brother, and many beloved pets. She was truly the greatest mom in the world!
I hope to have a very different conversation about this disease with my kids someday, knowing a cure is within reach.
Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, and shared words of love with my family. We love you all.
