I didn’t think of or really know about Alzheimer’s until 2010 when my parents shared with us that my mom had been diagnosed with it. There were small, gradual changes that didn’t seem relative outside normal aging. The true downhill slide began late 2015/early 2016. It became quite apparent what my father had been faced with taking care of my mother throughout the years that he quietly handled. Mid 2016 it became evident that living at home was no longer an option for mom or dad. After trying several facilities mom was able to get in at Carroll Campbell Place. This was her final residence until she was called HOME on April 9, 2017.
There are many people in various stages of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. This is a road well traveled by many with no set route or rules on a roller coaster ride that always ends the same way. Sometimes the roller coaster ride is short while other times it is long.
Ride to End Alzheimer’s….what is the goal? To prevent Alzheimer’s? To reverse Alzheimer’s? To slow Alzheimer’s? To treat symptoms of Alzheimer’s? To diagnosis earlier?
Without research none of these questions can be answered and without donations/financial support, research cannot happen.
Let’s find THE GOAL of Alzheimer’s!!!
