Why I Ride: I'm determined to go the distance for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and dedicating this ride to my mom Selma Turock. As an English teacher she took pride in her extensive vocabulary and a unique style in both the spoken and written word. It was difficult to observe the steady decline of her cognitive abilities and persona over her three year struggle with the disease. I am inspired by the strength of the more than 5 million Americans living with this disease, the 16 million family members and friends who provide them with care and the researchers seeking a cure.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I am asking for your support. On April 18th my team will be participating on the Ride to End ALZ, a fully-supported, one day fundraising event where every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
With each mile team Calypso rides, we are raising funds to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Please give "till it hurts".Thank you for cheering us on.
