Long-term care residents recommended for access to COVID vaccine
The Alzheimer's Association agrees with the recommendation by an independent advisory panel to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prioritize residents and staff of nursing homes and other long-term care settings for the forthcoming coronavirus vaccines. Forty-eight percent of nursing home residents are living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, and the Association has advocated strongly for greater access to PPE and rapid testing for residents and staff.

Anxiety may result in quicker progression to Alzheimer’s
Older adults with memory problems may progress to Alzheimer's more quickly if they also have anxiety symptoms, a new study suggests. Researchers found that participants with more anxiety symptoms at the study’s outset were more likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's over the next several years compared to those with few symptoms. Simplifying daily routines, making the home environment calm and fitting in activities such as walks, gardening or listening to music can help manage anxiety and stress.
