Husband and Alzheimer’s caregiver never gives up

Dan Goerke’s wife, Denise, was in her 50s when she first showed signs of Alzheimer’s. Eight years later, Denise resides in an assisted living community. Despite the care challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dan keeps a positive attitude and encourages other caregivers to do the same.

Confusion is common in people in the later stages of Alzheimer's

A person living in the later stages of Alzheimer’s may not remember familiar people, places or things. Situations involving memory loss and confusion are extremely difficult for caregivers and families, and require patience and understanding.
