Award-winning TV correspondent and Alzheimer’s Association Celebrity Champion Liz Hernandez lost her mother to Alzheimer’s in 2019. On our blog, Hernandez says her mom cultivated her love of words, and she hopes by sharing her mom’s story that other families affected by Alzheimer’s will share theirs as well.

Focus on emotions when responding to repetitive behavior
A person living with Alzheimer's may repeat a word, question or activity or undo something that has just been finished. In most cases, they’re probably looking for comfort, security and familiarity. When responding, think about how the person is feeling rather than react to the behavior.
