The Caregiver-A Life With Alzheimer's
Book by Aaron Alterra

When Aaron Alterra's wife, Stella, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's she was an unusually active and vibrant eighty-year-old preparing for a cello performance. The diagnosis confirmed a sense that things had not been "quite right" for months, and radically altered the author's role in a vital partnership that had spanned sixty years. Husband became caregiver, a role that evolved as the disease progressed. "Alzheimer's is not only what is medically," he writes, "it is a warren of unexpected nuances that those who have been caregivers try to prepare others for."
