SC State House Day 2018
We're sorry, the deadline for registering for this event has passed. Questions? Email alzsc@alz.org.
Help us turn the South Carolina state capitol purple by participating in our 2018 State House Day!
The Alzheimer's Association will host our SC State House Day on Wednesday, April 11th. This year's event will provide opportunities for your to meet with your legislators in their offices as well as in the State House lobby. View the flyer and full agenda.
This year, we are asking legislators to continue funding the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Respite Program. This important program helps dementia caregivers take a break and take care of their own health, too! We are also asking legislators to pass H 4802, a bill to make Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (POST) available throughout South Carolina. POST is a form of advance care planning that creates portable medical orders to document patients’ wishes for medical treatment.
If you are already registered for State House Day, please be sure to listen to our recorded State House Day Prep training!
Listen whenever it's convenient for you! Stream or download the recorded training.
What will the training cover? We'll cover all the most important info:
- The schedule for the day;
- A map of where our activities will take place;
- Where to park and how to dress;
- Our legislative "asks" for the day; and
- How to share your story effectively
We're also pleased to share our Advocate Guide and Leave-Behind, which are referred to during the training. The Advocate Guide has lots of important details to help you prepare for the day, while the Leave-Behind will guide your conversations with Legislators while we're there.
Check-in will be at 8:00-8:15 AM in Blatt Building, Room 110, located at 1105 Pendleton St, in Columbia, SC. Please allow travel time for morning traffic and a short walk from the parking garage. You must be registered in advance to participate.
