The first annual Night Under The Purple Stars Gala celebrates and honors the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementias. It is an Evening to End Alzheimer’s hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, Mid South Chapter. This year’s event, will be emceed by David Person, Media Personality and tireless advocate in the Huntsville community.

The event will honor community member Jim Hudson of HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology for their outstanding work in the field of Alzheimer’s research. The HudsonAlpha Instituite for Biotechnology aims to improve human health, stimulate economic development and inspire youth in Alabama to pursue a career in science.

Renowned couple B.Smith and Dan Gasby will be the special guests for the gala. B. Smith, restaurateur, celebrity chef, supermodel and lifestyle maven is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband and business partner Dan Gasby is also her caregiver. Together they co-authored “Before I Forget,” a love story illuminating the unparalleled strengths of family, understanding and hope.

Dan Gasby will be sharing his personal experience with being a husband, a partner as well as a primary caregiver.
