Remembering Dan Strode
Dan Lee Strode, resident of Fairfax County, VA, passed away on May 26, 2020, after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Dan was born in 1955 in Ocala, Florida, to the late Don and Julia Strode. He has three sisters, Donna, Peggy, and Shirley.
Dan graduated with honors from the University of Virginia, where he met his beloved wife Becky. Dan earned a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University. He retired after a thirty-year career as an analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Dan loved the outdoors. As a child, he learned from his father how to fly-fish and canoe. As an adult, he was an avid bicyclist and runner. He took his family on hiking and camping adventures and delighted in the beauty of the natural world, from hiking in the mountains to paddling through the marshes of the Eastern Shore. When indoors, Dan enjoyed jazz, history books, and fellowship with friends.
Dan will be remembered and cherished as a gentle and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful friend and a good listener. He is survived by his wife Becky, his daughter Sarah, son-in-law Rahul, two grandchildren, and three sisters.
