Duane Carl Mosure, 75, was born on August 10, 1939, in Lockport, New York, to William C. and Augusta (Dolly) Marie Mosure and died January, 31, 2015, in Round Rock, Texas, with his daughter Melissa Reeve by his side, following years of declining health. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Mosure leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Rita (Mooney) Mosure and their four daughters: Amy Sue (Thomas) Numrych of Woodinville, Washington; Melissa Ann (Ian) Reeve of Round Rock, Texas; Jennifer Marie (Steve) Core of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Rebecca Lynn (Terry) Kawahara of Maple Valley, Washington, as well as, four grandchildren whom he loved very much: Sarah Nichole Reeve, Jeffrey Thomas Numrych, Andrew Kento Kawahara and Austin Hayato Kawahara. Additionally, Mr. Mosure leaves behind his sister, Joyce M. (Peter) Tarajos of Gasport, New York; brother-in-law, Patrick (Margaret) Mooney of Columbus, Ohio; cousin, Jim Wagner, of Akron, New York, whom was like his brother, and numerous extended family members and friends.

In his youth, he enjoyed summer days on his Uncle Henry and Aunt Mildred Wagner’s farm. He was a member of the swim and dive team at Lockport High School earning awards for his achievements. Mr. Mosure graduated from Lockport High School and continued his education at Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, New York, earning a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed unwinding games of hockey with classmates between studies. Mr. Mosure went on to attend the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, earning a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career in engineering with the Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. While in Dayton he married his wife and they began a family. They relocated to Torrington, Connecticut, where Duane continued his career as an aeronautical engineer at Candler Evans, Hartford, Connecticut. In 1977 Mr. Mosure secured employment with Sundstrand Corporation, Rockford, Illinois, and worked there until his retirement in 1999. He had a brilliant mind and excelled in his field earning numerous United States patents, such as Centrifugal Pump Diffuser Ring Assembly and Mechanical Shaft Seal. He valued education and saw that his children graduated from college. Mr. Mosure and his wife spent their retirement traveling the country visiting friends, family and enjoying their grandchildren. He was a member of the Coon Creek Casters, a Boone County fishing club, which brought him enjoyment. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, hobby farming, vegetable gardening, county fairs and air shows.

He will be missed and not forgotten by those who knew and loved him. The family will hold a private memorial service for Mr. Mosure in Seattle in the near future. He and his wife will eventually be interned at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Somerset, Ohio, the location where they promised to love each other forever and began their lives together.
