Hi All,

On October 18th, I will be embarking on a solo bicycle trip from New York City to Montreal, Canada to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Association. I will make my best attempt to complete the trip, covering a distance of approximately 410 miles (650 Kilometers) and 10,500 feet of ascent (3,200 Meters), in 7 days.

Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and there is no known cure, method to slow the disease's progress or ability to prevent it. Alzheimer's is a disease that attacks the brain and is the most common form of dementia. It is estimated that over 5 million Americans and hundreds of thousands of Canadians suffer with Alzheimer's and that those numbers may nearly triple by 2050.

Sadly, a few years ago, my mother-in-law - Athena - was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and she lives with it today in Montreal. Athena is now 75 years old and is approaching her 50th wedding anniversary. She used tell stories of distant times with remarkable precision but now she has difficulty understanding that she has two loving daughters and grandchildren. My wife Helen and sister-in-law Demetra know first hand just how difficult it is to see the person that you know and love slowly disappear.

As a service to those affected by Alzheimer's or who may be impacted in the future, we humbly ask you to make a donation* to Alzheimer's Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Your gift will help them to accelerate their critical mission to eliminate Alzheimer's disease and to provide the best care and support to those living with Alzheimer's.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Andrew Pedvis, Helen Angelidis-Pedvis, and Demetra Angelidis

Andrew, the first I saw of you was your tremendous spirit of adventure and of hope. It is this kind of spirit and from where you get your inspiration that makes me glad to be working for this cause. So pleased that you are safe and with family ... looking forward to the video and photos. With thanks, Michele Muir - VP Marketing & Development, Alz Association Hudson Valley

Words cannot describe the emotions that I am feeling now.I always knew that you were a remarkable person...but only you had to find a way to show it- over 400 miles long.

We love you beyond any gesture that we could show. You are an inspiration of what it means to be giving. You know that you are the reason why I chose the name for my son. Your name is not a middle name, but part of his first name. You really are a hero!
I know that Helen probably was so worried that she wished that I would talk you out of it. No such luck... this little sister (despite the possible dangers) thinks that what you set out to do- and did- is absolutely amazing! We can't wait to see you when you cross the finish line.

But you did it!! Congratulations, we are so very proud of you. Mom and Dad.

One nice memory I have of Montreal is spending time in Mount Royal Park. It is so beautiful and green. Try to stop and rest there at the end of your trip :)
Your family is very blessed to have you and your sense of giving. Be careful and drink lots of water!
