Emily and Steve Campen met at Forcey Memorial Church in Silver Spring, Md. and have been married for 42 years. They were introduced to the Memory Ball by friends Dr. Jon Moles, Al Clapp and Teresa Bradbury (whose husband Bob died of Alzheimer’s). Emily is a retired FCPS high school teacher who taught biology, chemistry, physics and AP environmental science. She and Steve are parents of two wonderful daughters, Heidi and Sami, and two great sons, Luke and Jesse. Emily is also the grandmother of two fantastic grandsons, Verite and Frankie. Emily is dancing in memory of one of her Hood College professors, Paul Hummer. Mr. Hummer, who was the author of many textbooks, spent his life instructing students the art of teaching.
Steve is a personal injury attorney practicing law in his Urbana and Rockville, Maryland offices with his daughter Samantha Manganaro. Steve and Emily and their four children have lived in Urbana for the last 34 years. Steve would like to dedicate this dance to Bob Bradbury and Mrs. June Ham, who was a childhood mentor and who also died from Alzheimer’s.
