Jacob's Walk Donation Page
Jacob says, “I don’t want anyone else’s grandpa to have to die from this disease, so I am trying to raise money to find a cure.”
In 2014, when Jacob was 9 years old, he lost his grandfather to the mind crippling disease. So he came up with an idea to try and make a change. Since its inception, the ADE for Alzheimer’s Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale has raised over $7,000. All of the money collected goes towards sponsoring Jacob in the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
The event does more than just raise money, it also creates conversation.
“Children will say to their parent, I want to go to Jacob’s lemonade stand, but what is Alzheimer’s?”, said Debbie Oberg, Jacob’s mother. “So that gives them an opportunity to have a conversation about it, because that’s what we want. We think Jacob’s generation will be the ones to find a cure for this disease.”, said Oberg.
Jacob said, “It makes me feel great, and I want to do it for a while.”
