Amy's Walk Donation Page
I'm participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® this year in Honolulu!
Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and it is a disease that affects my family personally. As many of you are aware, my mother has early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Early-onset Alzheimer's is an uncommon form of dementia that strikes people younger than age 65. She started showing early signs & symptoms around 2005 at age 49 and has regressed since then more and more every day. Alzheimer's disease isn't just a disease of old age and it doesn't just take a person's memories. Alzheimer's is a progressive brain disease that takes a person's very being, their identity, and their existence. Nobody should ever have to see their loved one deteriorate in such a slow and horrible way.
By taking part in this year's walk, I'm hoping it will lead to Alzheimer's first survivor. If we can find a cure, we can end the suffering of 5 million people living with the disease as well as those affected such as the 16.1 million caregivers in America.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please consider making a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association!
I really appreciate all of your help and support in reaching my goal. Mahalo for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
