Fundraising Honor Roll

Hi everyone!  My name is Mandy Marie Stone. I am so honored and humbled to be a part of this event and organization.  I was born and raised by two awesome and loving parents in Columbus, GA.  I am married to an Army Veteran of 10 years who is the love of my life and my biggest hero.  We have four fur babies which include three cats and a dog, all which come from rescue shelters.  Let me tell you, they each have a different personality but make our home a loving home.  My two young nephews have me wrapped around their fingers.  I have also been blessed as a two time, two different Cancer Survivor.

I have the awesome opportunity to be a Veteran Success Coach at the only Veterans' Education Career Transition Resource Center (VECTR) in the US located in Warner Robins, GA.  As a Licensed Master Social Worker with a specialization in Military Social Work, I am able to provide assistance to military servicemembers, Veterans, their spouses and dependents transitioning from military to civilian life.  Coming from personal experience, transitioning from military to civilian life is a tough job in itself.  I obtained my Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California.  I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Auburn University.  WAR EAGLE!  Last but not least, I am a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in medical/surgical floors for 12 years before going back to school for social work.

I enjoy dancing, watching the Atlanta Falcons, spending time with my family and friends, and volunteering.  While I am new to the community, I enjoy the opportunity to give back and provide assistance to those who are in need.

It wasn't really until my grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia 5 years ago that I became involved with the Alzheimer's Association.  Alzheimer's is a disease that has the ability to decrease the dignity and quality of life for an individual.   Not only that, it takes a toll on caregivers and familty members.  I have seen first hand how this disease robs you of your vitality and threatens to shake the core of the love ones that support you.  BUT, I have seen what the support and love from the Alzheimer's Association can do.  Through its works, there has been an advancement in research, caregiver support, and promotion of brain health.  Personally, it has provided resources and support to help my grandpa and family persevere.

I appeal to you as a granddaughter, loved one, advocate, caregiver, and friend to vote for me to help increase access to research and resources to eliminate Alzheimer's Disease.

Any donation is greatly appreciated!
