A Hero

Roland was born April 30, 1923 in Port Arthur, Texas to Donation and Virginia Daigle. He joined the Army at the age of seventeen and served for twenty-one years. He fought in both the Korean War and World War II and earned earned a silver star and bronze star.

A Husband

Roland and Willaveene met at an Army mixer at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. She was the only red head in the room, and he and a buddy of his both headed her way at the same time. He got there first and the rest is history. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2012.

A Family Man

Mr. Daigle is survived by his wife, Willaveene; his brother, Raymond Daigle, his children and their spouses, Wayne and Lisa Daigle, Robert and ArVelle Daigle, and Elaine and Calvin Thomas; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Of special note, all seven of Roland’s grandchildren graduated from institutions of higher learning due in no small part to the example set by Roland.
