Why We Walk: From the beginning of the pandemic, the Alzheimer’s Association was a godsend for our patients at Advocate Aurora Health. In our hospitals and clinics, we see how dementia affects the quality of life of the person with the disease and the people who love them. People with dementia are 16% more likely to die from COVID. We Walk because our patients and their caregivers need help to advocate for their rights, provide essential support programs and do research to find a cure for a disease that takes away so much.

We Walk to support the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Help Line where advice is always available. The Help Line was invaluable to us when it was not safe to let people enter our facilities to attend support groups or even to visit their loved ones. Our Employee Assistance Program used the resources of the Alzheimer’s Association to aid our essential workers whose family members had trouble navigating times of chaos. We Walk because Help is a phone call away.

We Walk because, with more than 6 million Americans with Alzheimer’s Disease and 11 million unpaid caregivers, Alzheimer’s Disease is a public health crisis. As healthcare workers, we are committed to finding solutions. We Walk to find a Cure.

Why do we Walk? Because the Alzheimer’s Association was there for us during the pandemic and we will not forget. There is no organization more deserving of our support. We Walk to ENDALZ.

You are invited to join an Advocate team or donate today to support our systemwide goal. Every step you take or dollar you donate makes a difference in the lives of people we love and patients we serve.
