With a strong commitment to increasing awareness of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dimensions, walking annually is one way to meet this personal and professional commitment. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, the team is raising funds — dollars that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research. As a member of the International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment, I present research regularly at the annual Alzheimer's Association International Conference. Here is a link to some current research: https://epostersonline.com/aaic2022/node/4245 41% of diagnosed dementia cases in the United States can be attributed to modifiable lifestyle factors. Maintaining a deep commitment to increasing awareness of modifiable lifestyle factors associated with later life dementia development, I recently published a book: Dementia Grief Therapy, available here or at your local book store: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-55440-7?source=shoppingads&locale=en-us&msclkid=8aeec2a27f091af313d8a4ca85f47a96&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=CONR_BOOKS_ECOM_US_PBOK_002AE_Bingshopp&utm_term=4586131724824508&utm_content=Ad%20group%20%231
One other area of focus is working with a team at UW Tacoma to develop a digital health application that guides users in adopting an individualized yogic and Ayurvedic approach to preventable dementia. A prototype will be presented at the Gerontological Society of America in November 2024.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please consider making a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Peace,
Adrienne
