I walk in the Northeast Kingdom Walk to End Alzheimer's because this cause is deeply personal to me. My Mother battled Alzheimer's disease for ten years, and it was heartbreaking for our entire family to witness her decline. Watching someone you love lose their memories and sense of self is painful, and my Mother reached a point where she no longer recognized us.
For the past nine years, I have been involved with this event serving as the Chairperson for the Planning Committee. My dedication stems from a desire to honor my Mother's memory and to support others who are affected by this devastating disease.
The Walk is not just a fundraiser; it is a beacon of hope. Researchers are making progress in finding a cure or effective treatments, but they need our financial support to continue their crucial work. Every step we take brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer's.
I walk for my Mother , for families who are currently facing this battle, and for future generations who deserve to live without the fear of Alzheimer's. I am profoundly grateful for the support we've received in the past and I believe that together, we CAN make a difference.
Please join me in helping to raise awareness of this horrible disease by making a donation, starting a team or joining my team to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association so that people battling this heartless disease can reach out and get the help and support they need and deserve.
