I am walking to honor so many in our lives who have been impacted by Alzheimer's. We lost Ralph on September 19,2022 after a very long journey with dementia. In years past we lost my father in law and 2 grandmothers to dementia as well. Those losses and the struggle in caregiving makes this walk very personal for me.
This disease is wicked. It tears away loved ones while their bodies are still here. It exhausts caregivers who are giving their all out of love even though that person isn't the same person you have always known. It plants a seed of fear. Every time a name is forgotten or you can't remember why you went into a room there is fear. They say the person is alive who will be cured from Alzheimer’s. I hope so but continuing research is the only way to insure that is true. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
