I walk for my grandfather, Dr. George Lose, who died from Alzheimer's disease. I was 16 years old, but remember it changed a great man in ways that were not him. That was my first experience with the disease.
I walk for my residents that I now watch suffering as my Grandpa once did. I feel for them and their families- this is an awful disease. I walk for our caregivers and all those that care for their loved ones with Alzheimer's and the related dementias. It is a very difficult job. It can be both stressful and rewarding and takes a special person, for those that are given the choice.
I walk for myself, my parents, my children and everyone who doesn't have Alzheimer's, but may need the cure someday. No one knows what the future holds.
