Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Chances are you know someone who has a loved one facing the challenges of day to day life. The caregiver of the loved ones are often neglected by everyone around them & are left with the burden to care for the one with this horrific disease.I know from personal experience that it takes a toll on your health, physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. People around you will not understand unless they have been through it for themselves. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help or advice or support. Don’t try to be the one that does it all. It takes a village, just like with children. Basically, you are dealing with a child like person again. You have to have patience Lots and Lots of patience. If your loved one thinks it is 1950, please don’t argue, they will not understand, it will just confuse them. Play their favorite music at night, it will help them rest. Or keep a tv on. Remember your parents loved & nurtured you while you was growing up, now it is your turn!! Keeping them in a familiar setting, not putting them in a new environment, in my opinion, is the key to a longer life. I kept my momma at her house !!She lived over 20 years with this disease!! Living in a house where she had been for over 40 years I honestly believe was the key to her long life!! I know it is not always possible but if you can do it, don’t you owe your parents that ??? The circle of life !!
Thank you for your support! Please donate to help Stomp out this horrible disease!!
