Karl R. Kortlandt Sr. Day: A Party to End Alzheimer's Disease
(41 Depot St., Powell, Ohio 43065)
Saturday, March 9, 2019 / starting at 12pm
Alzheimer's disease can be very tough on a family. The Kortlandt family watched the patriarch of their family, Karl R. Kortlandt Sr., suffer through the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's until he no longer even recognized them. They want to use the 100th Anniversary of his birth to celebrate his life and raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease. For every pint you buy at Nocterra on March 9th, they will donate $1 to Alzheimer's research. Plus the first 240 people will get a free “Nocterra Goes Sailing: Karl R. Kortlandt Sr. Day” glass to take with them. So get ready to party for a good cause and don't forget to bring your friends!
We encourage you to wear purple, the official color of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which the Kortlandt family supports every year. Please consider donating to the The Alzheimer's Association as well. For more information - check out the Facebook Event HERE!
During the month of February we encouraged returning walkers and sponsors to sign up for the 2019 Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer's. We randomly selected one participant and one sponsor to highlight. We are grateful for everyone that has already committed and excited to meet the everyone as they continue to register.
Our Participant Spotlight is: Dionne Nicol
When asked "why she walks,": "I walk to end Alzheimer’s Disease! Working at Dublin Assisted Living and Memory Support I see the negative effect Alzheimer’s disease has on care givers, friends, family and the resident. It takes each and every one of us to work together to earn the money needed for research to stop this disease in its tracks." Thanks Dionne for your dedication and support.
Our Sponsor Spotlight is: Sunrise Senior Living
When asked, "why do you sponsor the Walk to End Alzheimer," "Our team cares for and supports those living with a cognitive impairment every day. Our mission is to champion the quality of life for all seniors and supporting the Alzheimer’s Association allows us to do just that. To anyone who has been impacted by this disease we walk with you." Thanks so much to the Sunrise of Dublin Team for those impactful words.
