Two sister teams unite as one in the goal to find a cure for Alzheimer's. The Elkins sister lost their Mom September 2017. The Kapusinsky Sisters Mom is still waiting for a cure as their family loves and care for their Mom with Alzheimer's.

Meet the Elkins sisters. Amy, the team captain is the youngest. Her older sisters Elaine and Jackie by her side. Our Mommy always called us the Silly Sisters when we were together...and if you heard our giggles, you would clearly know we earned the name. Our Mom suffered 4 long years and passed at the young age of 74. I say suffer because Team Silly Sisters keeps it real. In stage 7, she cried non stop. Couldn't talk. Couldn't walk. Couldn't chew. She was terrified. I was her biggest advocate and worked around the clock with hospice, but the crying ate away at our hearts. When she passed, as Sisters, we were relived she didn't have to suffer anymore.
So now we unite with more sisters... to find a cure!

Jen and Tesha's Mom first displayed symptoms of Alzheimer's in 2005 and was finally diagnosed in 2007. The words "early onset" penetrated a strong family foundation that rocked their worlds. Under the Care of Hospice, Yee-Chun "Lisa" is able to stay at home with care 7 days a week through visiting angels. She currently resides with their Dad, Francis "Hank" in her home where she feels comfortable and safe. When Lisa came to the U.S. she met Hank in Mount Sinai hospital. After having Jen and Tesha, Lisa and Hank decided to move to Florida to open an assisted living facility. There, Lisa cared for the very people that lived with this relentless disease of Alzheimer's as she raised her two daughters, the girls who were silly growing up. Through aging and Lisa's career in helping those who fight this battle to find a cure, the Sisters were raised within the world of caring for others. So as the shoe shifts to the other foot, Jen and Tesha find themselves replicating their Mom's journey, but very close to home.

We have heard that when a patient with cancer looks at themselves in the mirror, they see a mutated version of themselves. For one suffering with Alzheimer's, they no longer see their reflection that others see. They also don't see the reflection of the others they love. Alzheimer's is a unforgiving disease that takes the memories we have built over a lifetime away.

Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
Love, Amy, Jen, Elaine, Tesha, and Jackie
