In 2018, I will Walk to End Alzheimers' in memory of my mom,Betty Blais, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in her early fifties. On May 10, 2017 we lost her to this horrible disease.
Never again will I get tohear the voice of the woman who cared for me when I was a child, supported meduring my youth, and put up with my nonsense during my teen years. Never againwill I hear her say I love you. Never will I get to dance with her at mywedding, or have her meet her first grandchild.
I Walk with the hopes that no one should ever have toexperience this again. 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's Disease. These areyour friends and family, your neighbors, and your coworkers. These are peoplewho have brought joy to their friends, family, neighbors and coworkers.
I will Walk the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's to raise awareness, andfunds, for care, support, and research. I run because Alzheimer's continues towreak havoc on my family, both physically and emotionally.
My aunt Janis and my uncle Bill have both been diagnosed with early onsetAlzheimer's. It's kind of unfair that it's knocking us down collectively. I'msort of sick of it, frankly, and it makes me angry. This is what motivates me to fight back.
Please consider joining my fight against Alzheimer’s disease, and help me to advanceresearch into prevention, treatments and ultimately a cure for Alzheimer's.
For the millions already affected by the disease, and for my family, thank you in advance for your help. Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here. Let’s make the world better, and keep it that way.
Thank you for helping us advance Alzheimer's support, care and research!
